AEM is No Longer the Brain. AI Is.

For years, I’ve worked with Adobe Experience Manager assuming one thing:

AEM sits at the center of the experience stack

After Adobe Summit 2026, that assumption no longer holds.

What Changed

With Adobe’s new CX Enterprise (agentic AI layer), we’re moving from:

  • human-defined journeys

  • campaign-based execution

  • manual optimization

To:

  • AI-driven decisions

  • real-time orchestration

  • continuous optimization

The Real Shift

AI agents are now capable of:

  • understanding user behavior

  • deciding what experience to deliver

  • triggering actions across systems

  • learning and improving outcomes

👉 Not assisting.👉 Acting.

Where AEM Fits Now

AEM is no longer the decision engine.

Instead, it becomes:

  • a content engine (structured content, assets)

  • a context layer (brand, governance, permissions)

  • an API-driven system used by AI

👉 AEM powers experiences. AI decides them.

New Architecture (Simplified)

AI Agent Layer

Calls into:
- AEM (content)
- AEP (data)- Target/Journeys (activation)

Continuous optimization loop

What This Means

We’re moving from:

👉 “build pages”

To:

👉 “design systems that decide experiences”

Final Thought

This isn’t just another AEM evolution.

👉 It’s a shift in control from systems to AI.

And as AEM professionals, we need to evolve from:

builders → architects of intelligent systems
